One
of MIAC's main goals is to provide services as well as training
opportunities in a customized manner according to the specific needs
of different areas throughout Connecticut. In order to facilitate
this process, MIAC has established eight specific regions. Each
region will have a regional director who is responsible for the
following:
- Each
Regional Director will solicit potential new Members, conduct
activities and carry out the purposes of the corporation in
its respective region, in accordance with guidelines, requirements,
instructions, policies and/or procedures established by the
Board or the corporation.
- The
voting members in each respective region elect its Regional
Director at the time of election of Directors.
- The
Regional Director serves for a term of two (2) years, and may
be re-elected for multiple terms, successive or otherwise.
- Regional
Directors serve in an advisory role to the Board of Directors.
- Regional
directors must be active members in good standing in the organization.
- Regional
Director appointments are subject to Board review and approval.
Some
of the activities to be conducted in each region include:
- Provide
opportunities for Region members to express any issues regarding
medical interpreting services within the respective Region.
In the event of major issues and/or concerns, this information
will be brought back to the Board of Directors to be addressed
by the Association as a whole.
- Educational/training
opportunities.
- Networking
opportunities for those working in the provision of medical
interpreting services to share information and create strong
partnerships.
However,
all MIAC members are welcome to attend all events, meetings, etc.
throughout Connecticut since MIAC is a statewide association.
