EDUCATION:

  • Establish medical interpreters "standards of practice"
  • Establish a calendar of educational workshops/trainings
  • Promotion of continuing education
  • Educate state lawmakers, regulators, and other policyholders about the importance of providing adequate linguistic/cultural competent services.
 

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

  • Increase MIAC presence through media outreach
  • Promote MIAC's mission with healthcare professionals other than medical interpreters
  • Attend relevant conferences
 

MEMBERSHIP:

  • General recruitment of individual members
  • Recruitment of corporate members
  • Continuous creation of marketing and presentation materials for distribution
 

ANNUAL CONFERENCE:

  • Manage all aspects of conference, including selection of venue, space and catering
  • Establish theme for conference together with Education Committee
  • Call for papers, presentations, and select speakers

 

RESEARCH:

  • Identify and address the unmet linguistic and cultural needs of LEP individuals
  • Process to assuring quality and monitoring effectiveness of interventions/programs
 

NEWSLETTER:

  • Request submissions for the newsletter
  • Develop newsletter themes and articles
  • Publish newsletter online and distribute to the membership
